The University of Georgia Office of Service-Learning coordinates a network of AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America), to support local community and campus partners to increase their capacity for bringing individuals and communities out of poverty. The University of Georgia VISTA Network is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA for a year of service at the UGArden, starting July 17, 2017. Applications for the below are due no later than the end of May.
The AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) program places passionate individuals in a year-long, full-time position to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational capacity of organizations that improve health and educational services, reduce food insecurity, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities. AmeriCorps VISTAs are full-time, year-long volunteers and are compensated with a small living allowance (less than $1,000/month), health care benefits, a relocation allowance, and an end-of-term education grant or stipend.
