Experience UGA Elementary School trips are hosted for every student enrolled in the Clarke County School District.

Pre-K

Partnered by and hosted at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Pre-K students learn about the natural world through their senses as they act out the life cycle of a tree, observe insects in nature, and engage in other exploratory activities.

Kindergarten

Partnered by and hosted at the Mary Frances College of Education

Kindergarten students learn about measurements led by students in the Education program. They will learn why and how to measure differently and participate in three activities centered around measuring small objects. Education students will also point out fun facts regarding measuring and how it is useful within a classroom setting.

First Grade

Partnered by and hosted by the College of Pharmacy, the Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, and the UGA Trial Gardens

Accidental poisonings are the second leading cause of death among children under the age of 5. As participants in this trip, 1st-grade students will learn about personal safety with regard to medicines, plants, animals, and the forest. Students will also learn basic information about plants and animals as they explore the Trial Gardens and Ecology Turtle pond.

Second Grade

Hosted at the Ramsey Center and partnered with the College of Public Health

During this trip, 2nd grade students will explore UGA’s Ramsey Center and participate in a health fair led by UGA public health students. They will also engage in physical activities, learn about nutrition through sampling healthy food, and explore other healthy habits.

Third Grade

Partnered by and hosted at the UGA Department of Theater and Film Studies

Students will attend a performance of an original dramatic play written by UGA students specifically for elementary school children. Students will also get an opportunity to learn about special effects and how it is incorporated in some of their favorite movies.

Fifth Grade

Partnered by and hosted at the Georgia Museum of Art, Hugh Hodgson School of Music

Students will take part in an interactive gallery tour and an art activity at the Georgia Museum of Art. Afterwards, they will participate in several music-based activities hosted by students in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
